Marian Deaton, B.S.S., N.Q.S.W., M.Sc. Psychotherapy (Systemic), F.T.A.I.

I graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an honours degree in Social Studies and the National Qualification in Social Work in 1999. Prior to this, I trained and worked as a volunteer counsellor in the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre for four years. I completed a Masters in Psychotherapy in U.C.D. in 2005.

I have extensive experience in the area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and I work therapeutically with children, adolescents, parents and families. I run groups for parents of children of all ages. I have also worked for many years with couples experiencing relationship difficulties.

As well as my role as a therapist, I have been involved in Social Work training in U.C.D. and Psychotherapy training in D.C.U. both as a lecturer and skills' trainer and I continue to work as a skills' trainer on a number of training courses.

I work with a range of issues such as anxiety, self-harm, bereavement, illness and family conflict. My approach to therapy is eclectic reflecting my diverse training. I value my clients' perspective and experience and I aim to work collaboratively with them to bring difference to their lives.
